To The Big Cat Sanctuary that is in Kent, England new member was added, a black female jaguar cub. It has come to news as there are about 10% of black jaguars in the wild. She had come to this world on the 6th of April and she’s doing well and even being more mischievous day by day. The birth of this little cub is a part of the program, European Endangered Species Breeding. And her birth is quite important as these animals are a near-threatened species.

She is now more than 10 months old and is the 4th black jaguar that is in the sanctuary and still she had not given a name. She is the beautiful baby girl of the two jaguars, Keira and Neron, who first met in December 2019.  The father jaguar, Neron has a high amount of black pigmentation in the coat and it is so due to an ancestral genetic mutation. And from her father, this beautiful baby jaguar had got this black color. When she’s out in the sunlight her spots are seen in black and brown color.

The sanctuary had said that the mother jaguar is the most energetic one in there and that her energy had contrasted Neron who is very calm. They had said that when you look at them you can see how much love they are in. and that it had not taken a long time for Keira to get pregnant. They had said to My Modern Met that Keira is a very good mother and that she’s very patient and loving. Keira feeds the baby and plays with her and groom her all day and night and looks after her baby cub very well.

Until the baby is 14 weeks and her vaccinations are done she’ll be beside her mom. And afterward, as Keira too needs some rest the sanctuary’s keeping team would look after the baby. Briony the Head keeper had said that the little girl was born at 11.10 am and from then she is very strong. Also had said that she grows quicker than other big cats and that it’s normal for jaguars. And had said that she had walked strongly when she was 2 weeks.

Still, the father had not been introduced to the baby girl. Sanctuary had said that he is calmly enjoying the peaceful time on his climbing platform or in his den. And that they are excited to meet both father and daughter. And still, they are debating on a name for the baby and you guys have the chance t vote for a name until the 1st of August. The names selected are Inka, which is after South American Indians, Inti which means Sunshine in Quechuan, and Killari which means Moonlight in Quechuan. One vote would be about $7 and 255 of the money would be given for the sanctuary’s jaguar conservation partner who works from the University of Costa Rica.
