There are different kinds of marine animals and this wonderful pink-colored manta ray is a  rare animal. This is Kristian Laine a talented photographer who recently has had the chance to get a close look at this manta ray which is pink in color. It had been seen along the coasts in Australia.  He had been taking photos of a group of 7 males going behind a female, where the photographer saw this amazing creature.

To the Bored Panda Laine had said that he had seen these rays and they had been about 12m deep in the water. And then he had stayed for the correct time to get in the waters. Then when he was in the eye levels with the pink ray he had taken a picture and that’s when he had seen that the ray was not in their normal colors but is in black and pink color. And at first, he had felt that there’s a problem with his camera.

He had said that the ray was very calm and that he remembers that he looked in the ray’s eyes and he had seen as if it was giving him a smile or being friendly. And that their interaction had been there for about 20-30 mins. Laine had said that he dove in a number of times without knowing how rare the ray was. But anyhow he had been able to get about 5 good clicks of the rare pink manta ray being with the other male rays.

He had said that he believes that the pink ray was first or second among the rays that were in line for the female one. This manta ray is very rare and also National Geographic said the animal was spotted back in 2015. And this ray is given the nickname Inspector Clouseau and this animal is a very rare one to be spotted.

Kristian had said that he didn’t even know that this pink ray existed. And he had said that while he was onboard he had seen a picture of this animal. Then only had found out that it was the exact one he had seen. And after realizing this he had been fully surprised and of course, the day had been very special to him.

As per the experts, the color of the ray is due to genetic mutations. At first, they had thought that it might be an infection on his skin. But after testing a sample of the ray’s skin in 2016 they had identified that it’s due to an alteration that has happened in its genetics. Erythrism is a rare genetic mutation that turns skin’s pigments turn red. And it is a condition like albinism.

Also, Laine had said that it’s been really challenging for him to take these photos and trying to hold his breath while diving up to 12 m deep taking his camera. And it must have been hard for him to be in a perfect place at the correct time to take pictures. To know more about Laine have a visit his website and also have a look at his website.
