As beautiful as they look, they are very unique and every horse in Iceland is purebred. As a matter, of fact, they are considered one of the most purebred horse breeds in the world. But how did this happen?
This country had no horse brought in for over more than a thousand years! These horses are believed to be brought into Iceland with the arrival of Vikings. That is the only instance when horses were brought into the country, and for centuries, this breed remains purebred up to date.
Petra combined two of her favorite things; the stunning landscape of her country and its horses, to create this photo series.
The breathtaking scenes, colors, and horses are just a part of Petra’s usual life. How lucky is she to wake up to this every single day?
