At Natomas Charter School, Sacramento, a group of teens had started a protest against the dress code saying that they had enough of the school rules. The school is a performing arts school. They had protested the school’s ‘sexist’ dress code by uncovering their midriffs. This story was shared on TikTok by Evita, a student who’s a part of the protest on her TikTok @baggyjeanmom. The students had even had signs calling out the administrator for saying that their bodies are a distraction. Some of the signs had said to teach the boys to focus and not ask the girls to cover up. And another sign had said that if the children’s midriffs distract them they shouldn’t be working with children. At the end of the video, she said that the protest had led the school to have a talk about changing the dress code. And also had said that some even got thrown out that day.

She had said through some other video that the protest was timed parallel to an assembly addressing the dress code. And had said that it was done because some students had felt that the dress code was sexist towards women. And had said that they feel that what they wear isn’t distracting others and does not affect anyone’s learning environment.

And in the comments, someone had said that the kids will have a lot of difficulty in the future when they get a job as they cannot understand the basic dress code. Then Evita had said that they know that they might have a dress code when they get older and they might have uniforms according to the jobs but as for now they are schooling.
She had also said that they should not get thrown out for wearing a crop top. And had said that she shouldn’t be the only one talking about this and that’s the reason they are having the discussion.
