We all know that Cats do not usually prefer water. This specially designed floating home is for them. This is the only floating house on earth for the cats. And it is named as De Poezenboot. Its meaning is very similar to the name of the sanctuary.
It was built in 1968 and houses 50 cats. Some of them do not live permanently and some live permanently there. This is a wonderful idea. However, the person who made it will have a lot of merit. Today, in some countries animals such as cats are severely in danger. See how much this building will help in such times. Since cats are reluctant to water, they have been given this floating home since 1968. Due to the quarantine period, this sanctuary is not open to the public. However, they say that if one wishes to adopt a cat, they can call and book a date for a meeting. Official website | Instagram

About 1966, animal lover Henrietta Van Weelde found a cat family living under a tree. They were then taken to their home and lodged there. Over time, such cats have gradually moved into their home, thus reducing the amount of space available. Not only that, the cats that people met in the village have also been brought to their house. In response to the lack of space, they have built this floating cat sanctuary.

Cats have been in the shelter since the beginning and the neighbours have come forward to care for them. However, the original boat that Henrietta bought was broken up three years later. People were already coming to see this wonderful home. They have come not only to be see but also to take cats for adoption.

Originating from this sanctuary, no one would have imagined it to be the only home for the cats in the world. That is what’s on their web site.

Cat Boat was registered as an official charity on June 3, 1987. According to authorities, in 2006, one boat had to be removed. Half of the space is now being used up.
