With modernization, people have started to change and now they are being less controversial. In these modern years, we usually don’t come across incidents where people are being criticized or shamed as much as in the past. But still, there might be one or two incidents.
Still, deep-rooted sexist ideologies mage to resurface and become a hindrance to people now and then. And something similar had happened with female medical workers. Recently a study published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery had shamed female medical workers for posting in bikinis. But thankfully the courageous ladies had stood up against the sexist study. Scroll down to see how they stood against it.
The study that came out in the August edition of the journal in 2020 had listed some inappropriate attire. But after this, the medical workers stood against the study and a doctor had given an explanation stating why the study is sexist.
After seeing the journal many female medical workers had fired against the study on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter. They had started to shame the sexist study by posting bikini vs work wear photos along with the hashtag #MedBikini. Later on, they had received an apology from the journal and the authors
However, even the Boston Medical Center had given out a statement about what happened. “ill-conceived, poorly executed, and reinforces biases about professionalism and gender” is what the spokesman from BMC had stated.
Anyways in the end the professional medical workers proved their point. They pointed the fact that enjoying on the beach, relaxing with a cocktail, or posing in swimwear does not make them less professional.
