Have you ever had that weird feeling of déjà-vu? You know, when you’re somewhere new but it feels like you’ve totally been there before? It’s like a trip down memory lane, even though you’re not sure which lane you’re on! Well, it turns out, this déjà vu thing is more common than you might think, and it’s a real head-scratcher.

Picture this, when you are walking down a street in a city you have never visited, and suddenly, it hits you like a ton of bricks. That feeling of déjà-vu. But why does it happen? Well, one idea is that our brains get a little mixed up sometimes. They see something that kinda looks like a memory from the past and, boom, déjà-vu kicks in. A Japanese photographer; Masaki Iwabuchi, with a curious mind and a camera in hand. He decided to take on the challenge of capturing déjà-vu moments he gets in cities of both Osaka and Tokyo. Masaki set out to find scenes that might trigger that familiar feeling and these pictures are quite interesting.

What did he discover? Well, Masaki’s photos are like a visual excersise of spot-the-difference. He found places with similar vibes and features, like winding streets or towering skyscrapers, and snapped away. And when you see his pics side by side, it’s like, déjà-vu!
