There’s no one in the world who hasn’t faced any difficulties in life. People face many difficulties in life. Be it mental or physical issues it’s very disturbing for them too. So rather than judging them, we should lend them a helping hand. Here’s such a story where a mom Natalie with her autistic son Rudy receives kindness from a total stranger. Rudy had been creating a fuss as he had felt overwhelmed by his senses. And then a runner named Ian had come up and started to talk with Rudy even by lying down on the floor. He had helped Natalie by handling Rudy rather than judging her.
Natalie had said to the Bored Panda that they had gone for a walk on the seafront as her son loves to walk. But due to his issues, he finds it hard to turn around and walk back and was making a fuss there. And had said that they even received stares and tuts from people and they are used to it. Things had gone a bit out of control and Rudy had been even lying on the floor. And one runner had stopped and asked her if her son was having a tantrum and when she said yes he had helped her out. Then he had started to talk with Rudy, but Natalie had explained to him that Rudy might not understand as he is autistic. And the runner Ian had lied on the floor and had interacted with Rudy. then the runner had spoken with Natalie a bit and had walked them to the car.

Natalie had posted on Facebook and said that this man, a total stranger had helped her from a meltdown that would have lasted for about an hour or more. She had said that she would have even got a bit beaten by her son as he loses himself when he meltdown. She had said that the man had taken time from his day and asked if she was okay. And had said that the man was her hero that morning. She had also said that she wishes there would be more people like that man.
Had said that there were people who stared at her even when she was apologizing for her son’s behavior. She had said that rudy loves to walk but hates to turn around and walk back.
#4 Ian, the runner had asked Natalie what was going on and helped her out

She had said that Ian was very helpful and it was kind of him to help her out. Had said that Ian spoke to Rudy but she explained that he was autistic and then he lied down and interacted with her son. She had thanked this fellow Ian from Southend Sea Front and had said that he’s a kind man.

She had said to the Bored Panda that Rudy is not much expressable so they have to communicate with him in other ways than verbally. And that he is a happy 6-year-old lad. She had said that she haven’t received such kindness from a stranger before and she was surprised as Ian helped her out. And also had said that even she does so when Rudy is out of control. She had said that she first that Ian would say something negative as she people had said negative thing for her before.
#7 It’s a common thing for them to get stares as people do it to them every time Rudy is out of control

She had said that it’s a bit tough to say how to live with an autistic child. But she had said that Rudy has a good nature but gets aggressive when he gets overwhelmed. And that the child needs a lot of love, support, and acre. She had said that the special needs school that Rudy goes to is also lovely and the teaching is also good. She had also said that it’s a bit hard to take him out like other children as they have to plan everything well before talking him out. Also, she had said that Rudy’s other siblings love him a lot and they understand that he needs a bit more care than them. She had said that once Rudy said that his foot was hurt and it was so exciting that he was able to say so. She had said that Rudy had helped her to be a better person in life.

She had also said how Rudy acts when he gets overwhelmed. She had said that at first he gets loved. But when he gets more overwhelmed he starts to kick or hit. She had said that a lot of people stare at them and even think that Rudy is a naughty boy. And also it had been said that such kids shouldn’t be brought out. And things are saddening because he is so due to the illness and nothing else.

She had said that she loves to live in a world where people are judged but it doesn’t happen so. She had said that people should find out before making assumptions. Also had said that even her older daughter is autistic and both she and Rudy are totally different. She had said that people think all autistic people are alike but it’s not so they are different.
#10 Being kind and being helpful is something that everyone should do

She had given some advice to people who have autistic children. She had said that it gets better and they have to be patient and tolerant. Though things get hard they have to be open to the children. Had said that all you have to do is be the biggest help in their lives.

Natalie had said that she’s 44 years and had 4 kids. 2 of them are step-kids from her husband’s first marriage. And Eden her older daughter who’s also autistic is from her first marriage and Rudy is hers and her husband Nigel’s. And had said that she works as a counselor and a coach by trade. Also had said that she now helps parents who have special needs. Also had said that finally, she has a purpose in her life and also is grateful to have such a loving family. Though there are tough times they are overtaken by the good times.

She has aid that she has a Facebook and Instagram page named ‘Better to be Different’ where she shares her story. She had said that her aim to support the SEN community and also to make those who do not have SEN in their lives aware of it. Also, she had a Facebook group named ‘Better to be different Group’ for parents and carers of special educational needs and neurodiversity.
