Have you ever seen inside of a Meller’s Chameleon or how the tail of an American Beaver looks?  In the Oregon Zoo, Portland there are about 2,500 animals including fifteen species who are endangered and 7 threatened species. For the staff in the zoo, it is important to know about the health of the animals. Through clear images, it is easy for the caretakers to check and know the health issues that these animals have. The Oregon Zoo is lucky that they have very special equipment.

In 2009 a donation of specialized tools was done to the zoo by Banfield Pet Hospital. With the help of these tools, they can now take x-rays more quickly than before and it allows them to share and archive the results more efficiently. As these equipments are quicker the animals do not have to stay for a long time under anesthesia and also it’s very helpful for the vets. The x-rays are really important for the staff and for animals lovers these could be really fascinating.
